Ingredients
1 whole filet tenderloin
1/4 cup minced garlic
1 stick butter
Salt and pepper
Method
Let tenderloin stand at room temperature for 2 hours in a shallow rimmed pan.
Pre-heat oven to 450 degrees.
Make 1/2 inch deep cuts diagonally across the top of tenderloin.
cut up the butter and put it along with the garlic into a microwave-safe bowl. Heat until melted.
Pour butter mixture over the tenderloin, using a brush to cover all of the roast. Salt and pepper to taste.
Roast uncovered for 5-6 minutes per pound for rare, 7-8 minutes for medium-rare.
Let rest 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving.
