This 7-layer taco dip is a delicious, flavorful appetizer that is sure to please a crowd. It has a layer of refried beans and is then followed by a layer of sour cream, salsa, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese and other toppings. The flavors of the taco dip come together to create a unique and mouth-watering combination. The seven layers provide a variety of textures and flavors that make it a crowd-pleasing appetizer. Serve it with tortilla chips, crackers or even fresh vegetables for a satisfying and flavorful snack.
NOTE: Photo shows 3/4 tomatoes on top for our non tomato eating friends.
Ingredients
1 package taco seasoning mix
16oz can of refried beans
16oz container of sour cream
16oz jar of salsa, any heat
8oz package of cream cheese
2 tomatoes, seeded and chopped
1 bunch of green onions, chopped
2 cups of shredded lettuce
Peppers of your choice, jalapenos, red bell peppers, pepper rings, etc.
2 cups of shredded cheddar or taco blend cheese
Method
In a medium bowl combine the taco seasoning with the refried beans and spread onto a large circular plate.
In a medium bowl mix the cream cheese with the sour cream until smooth and then spread on top of the refried beans.
Drain excess water from the salsa then spread on top of the cream cheese mixture.
Top with the lettuce, tomatoes, green onion, and finally shredded cheese.
Place peppers on top of the cheese mixture. You can use different kinds of peppers on each half or third, etc.
Cover with cellophane and refrigerate 2 hours.
Remove from the refrigerator and serve with thick tortilla chips.
